Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
SAN DIEGO, April 9 (UPI) -- Four rain delays in San Diego caused Friday's game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Padres to be suspended tied 2-2 after eight innings.
The teams are to complete the game Saturday before the regularly scheduled weekend contest.
Heavy rains led to play being stopped four times Friday for a total of three hours, 36 minutes.
The game is to resume in the top of the ninth with the Dodgers' Matt Kemp on first with no outs. Juan Uribe is due to bat.
The Dodgers used five pitchers and the Padres six. It was unclear what the pitching situation would be when the game resumes.
Both of the Los Angeles runs were unearned. The Dodgers opened the scoring in the fourth when Casey Blake and Kemp both walked. They pulled off a double steal and Blake reached home on a throwing error by catcher Nick Hundley.
After the Padres took the lead in the fifth, Casey Blake, who singled and moved up on a passed ball, reached home on a single by Kemp, tying the score 2-2.
Orlando Hudson and Ryan Ludwick drove in the San Diego runs.
