MLB: Oakland 2, Toronto 1

TORONTO, April 7 (UPI) -- Coco Crisp reached on a strike out, stole two bases and scored in the eighth inning Thursday, giving the Oakland A's a 2-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Oakland trailed 1-0 when Andy LaRoche led off the eighth with a double off Toronto starter Ricky Romero. After a sacrifice, on which LaRoche took third, Jason Frasor (1-1), replaced Romero.

Crisp swung at a 2-2 pitch in the dirt and missed but the ball bounced away from catcher J.P. Arencibia and LaRoche was able to score while Crisp reached first.

He stole second, before Daric Barton struck out, and third. Conor Jackson singled through the left side of the infield to get Crisp home.

Trevor Cahill (1-0) collected the win, giving up three hits and no walks in eight innings. Brian Fuentes had one inning of one-hit relief in picking up his first save.

Toronto scored its run in the sixth when Jayson Nix singled in Arencibia with two outs.
