BOSTON, April 6 (UPI) -- Gregory Campbell gave Boston a two-goal lead midway through the second period Wednesday and the Bruins held on to edge the New York Islanders 3-2.

Boston became the seventh team in the NHL this season to reach the 100-point mark and the Bruins will be no worse than the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs thanks to their title in the Northeast Division.

Campbell put a slap shot past Rick DiPietro for a 3-1 advantage. Michael Grabner's second goal of the game brought the Islanders within one with 5:34 to go in the middle period and neither team could score again.

Shawn Thornton and Dennis Seidenberg also scored for the Bruins, who moved within two points of idle Philadelphia for the second seed in the East.

Tim Thomas earned the win with 30 saves. DiPietro stopped 31 shots in New York's fifth loss in six games.
