NEW YORK, April 6 (UPI) -- Joe Mauer capped a Minnesota comeback with a go-ahead, RBI single in the 10th inning Tuesday, giving the Twins a 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees.
Minnesota rallied to tie the score with four runs in the eighth off the Yankees' bullpen, which spoiled seven shutout innings by New York starter CC Sabathia.
Delmon Young keyed the rally with a three-run bloop double that got past right fielder Nick Swisher.
Mauer ended with two RBI to make a winner of Matt Capps (1-0), who pitched two perfect innings of relief.
Sabathia allowed only two hits, walking one and striking out six for New York.
Rafael Soriano surrendered all four Twins runs in the eighth and Boone Logan (0-1) absorbed the loss in the 10th.
Mark Teixeira and Andruw Jones homered for the Yanks.
