KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 6 (UPI) -- Melky Cabrera's 12th-inning RBI single gave the Kansas City Royals a 7-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox Tuesday.

Cabrera drove a base hit into center field that brought Chris Getz in from second base and gave the Royals their fourth win of the season, all of which have come on a run scored in the final inning.

Billy Butler hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning for Kansas City that tied the score. Alex Gordon went 3-for-5 and accounted for two RBI.

Jeremy Jeffress (1-0) picked up the win by getting the final two outs in the 12th. Luke Hochevar started and surrendered six runs -- five earned -- on seven hits, two walks and one strikeout.

Paul Konerko had a three-run home run in Chicago's four-run first inning. Kansas City came back with two runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the second to tie it 4-4.

Tony Pena (0-1) took the loss in relief after starting the 12th.

Chicago starter Gavin Floyd gave up four runs on seven hits in seven innings. Chris Sale left with a blown save after giving up Butler's home run.
