CINCINNATI, April 6 (UPI) -- Scott Rolen drove in three runs Wednesday and the Cincinnati Reds pounded out 15 hits in coming back from a four-run deficit to down Houston 12-4.
The Reds remained unbeaten in five games this season and the Astros have yet to pick up a victory in five tries.
Houston scored four times in the first inning but the Reds took the lead with a five-run third that featured a two-run double from Rolen.
Both Brandon Phillips and Paul Janish had three hits for the Reds, who have won their opening five games in a season for the first time in 21 years. That 1990 team won its first nine contests on its way to a World Series championship.
Houston committed five errors that made four of the Cincinnati runs unearned.
Edinson Volquez (1-0) lasted five innings to get the win. He gave up four runs on five hits with five walks, but struck out eight.
Nelson Figueroa (0-1) was unable to hold the early Houston lead. Figueroa surrendered six runs on 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings.
