NEWARK, N.J., April 5 (UPI) -- Deron Williams connected on a jumper with 1.7 seconds left Tuesday, boosting the New Jersey Nets to a 107-105 decision over Minnesota.

Williams finished with 18 points and 21 assists for the Nets, who allowed the Timberwolves to catch up in the late going after leading by double digits for most of the game.

Williams' decisive shot came in response to a game-tying basket from Michael Beasley with 7.8 seconds left.

Beasley, however, was off the mark on a potential game-winning 3-pointer in the final second.

The Nets got 30 points and 12 rebounds from Brook Lopez while snapping a six-game skid.

Beasley ended with 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for Minnesota.
