Haith leaves Miami, bound for Missouri

MIAMI, April 4 (UPI) -- University of Miami men's basketball Coach Frank Haith resigned Monday after seven seasons with the team, school officials announced.

Haith has accepted the vacant head coaching position at the University of Missouri and will be announced as the Tigers' new coach pending approval by that school's board of curators, multiple reports indicated.

"Frank Haith has been a steady leader and made a positive impact on the University of Miami men's basketball program," Miami acting Athletic Director Tony Hernandez said. "We want to wish him well at Missouri."

Haith compiled a 129-101 record with the Hurricanes, going 43-69 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

The Hurricanes went 21-15 this season, earning an invitation to the NIT where they lost to Alabama in a quarterfinals.

The Missouri job opened up when Mike Anderson left last month to become coach at Arkansas.
