ARLINGTON, Texas, April 2 (UPI) -- Adrian Beltre keyed a 15-hit attack with a grand slam homer Saturday, powering the Texas Rangers' 12-5 shellacking of Boston.
The Rangers' Ian Kinsler hit a lead-off home run for the second game in a row -- the first time in major league history a player has homered to begin each of his team's first two games of the season.
Yorvit Torrealba also went deep with a two-run shot and Nelson Cruz added a solo blast for American League champs, who are 2-0 to start the season.
Colby Lewis (1-0) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks through six innings to pick up the win, striking out four.
John Lackey (0-1) absorbed the defeat, surrendering nine runs and 10 hits in only 3 2/3 innings.
The Red Sox lost despite two-run homers from David Ortiz and Jacoby Ellsbury.
