NBA: LA Lakers 96, Utah 85

SALT LAKE CITY, April 2 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant led Los Angeles with 21 points Friday and the Lakers overcame a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Utah 96-85.

The Lakers won their ninth in a row and their 17th in 18 games.

Utah led by as many as 17 points in the second period before the Lakers cut their deficit to 48-42 at the break. Los Angeles then outscored the Jazz by 13 in the third period to take control.

The loss eliminated Utah from playoff contention.

Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom added 16 points for the Lakers while Derek Fisher had 15.

Utah got 24 points from C.J. Miles and 17 from Al Jefferson.
