Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

FOXBOROUGH, Mass., April 2 (UPI) -- Jack Jewsbury scored for Portland Saturday and the expansion Timbers earned their first point in Major League Soccer with a 1-1 draw against New England.
The Revolution had taken a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when Stephen McCarthy booted the ball into the right-post side of the goal with a one-timer from about 20 yards.
But Jewsbury tied it up about 15 minutes later with a left-footed blast from just outside New England's penalty area after getting the ball from Jeremy Hall.
The tie left the Timbers at 0-2-1 and the Revolution at 1-0-2.
