WASHINGTON, April 2 (UPI) -- Rick Ankiel smashed a two-run homer Saturday and the Washington Nationals went on to down Atlanta 6-3 in a rain-delayed contest.

Ankiel added a sacrifice fly for three RBI and Jayson Werth doubled among his three hits for Washington, which logged its first win of the season in a game that was twice delayed by rain.
John Lannan (1-0) earned the win with five innings of one-run ball, yielding five hits and one walk while striking out three, and Sean Burnett picked up a save with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Tommy Hanson (0-1) allowed three earned runs on five hits over 3 2/3 innings for Atlanta, taking the defeat.
Dan Uggla hit his first homer as a Brave and Alex Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with a home run for Atlanta.
