Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

LOS ANGELES, April 2 (UPI) -- Freddy Sanchez homered and drove in three runs and Matt Cain tossed six shutout innings Saturday in San Francisco's 10-0 rout of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Sanchez finished 3-for-5, Aubrey Huff knocked in a trio of runs on a pair of hits and Miguel Tejada went 2-for-5 with two RBI for the Giants, who won their first game of the year after two losses.
Mark DeRosa went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored for San Francisco.
Cain (1-0) allowed five hits and no walks while fanning three.
Javier Lopez, Ramon Ramirez and Jeremy Affeldt each pitched a scoreless frame of relief to complete the shutout.
Ted Lilly (0-1) yielded four runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings for the Dodgers.
