MLB: Cincinnati 4, Milwaukee 2

CINCINNATI, April 2 (UPI) -- Travis Wood threw seven effective innings Saturday and the Cincinnati Reds followed through with a 4-2 victory over Milwaukee.

Wood (1-0) held the Brewers to just one run on four hits, striking out seven as the Reds moved to 2-0 on the young season.

Scott Rolen socked a two-run homer and Drew Stubbs added a pair of hits and an RBI for Cincinnati.

Francisco Cordero got the save despite allowing a two-out, RBI single to Casey McGehee in the ninth.

Erick Almonte homered for the Brewers and Shaun Marcum (0-1) took the loss, surrendering four runs (three earned) on four hits with five walks and seven strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings.
