MONTREAL, March 29 (UPI) -- Carey Price stopped 27-of-28 shots Tuesday and the Montreal Canadiens broke a three-game slide with a 3-1 victory over Atlanta.

Price stopped 11 shots in the second period and nine in the third to back early goals from Roman Hamrlik and Mathieu Darche for the Habs, who bounced back from three consecutive shutout losses.

Andrei Kostitsyn added an empty-netter and the Canadiens used the victory to wrest the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference from the idle New York Rangers.

Nik Antropov got Atlanta's only goal and Ondrej Pavelec made 28 saves.
