Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 29 (UPI) -- Maksim Mayorov got the only goal of a shootout and Steve Mason made 29 saves Tuesday in the Columbus Blue Jackets' 3-2 victory over Florida.
Mason stopped Florida's Stephen Weiss and Sergei Samsonov in the tiebreaker, which gave Columbus its first win in seven home games.
The Blue Jackets' netminder was especially busy in the third period, making 11 saves. But he allowed Evgeny Dadonov to forge a 2-2 tie with a goal 7 1/2 minutes into the final frame.
Scottie Upshall and Antoine Vermette scored for Columbus in regulation.
David Booth got Florida's other goal and Scott Clemmensen turned aside 30-of-32 shots for the Panthers.
