Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CARSON, Calif., March 27 (UPI) -- Quincy Amarikwa scored on a first-half breakaway Saturday, boosting the Colorado Rapids to a 1-0 victory over Chivas USA.
Amarikwa got the ball behind a pair of defenders and broke in alone during the 32nd minute. He vaulted over charging goalkeeper Zach Thornton and raced in on an empty net to bury it.
The Rapids have begun their defense of the Major League Soccer title with the first 2-0-0 start in the franchise's 16-year history.
Chivas USA dipped to 0-2-0 while falling in a shutout to Colorado for the fourth straight meeting between the two teams.
