ATLANTA, March 26 (UPI) -- A select group of NBA players will be donating funds for points scored this weekend to Japanese earthquake relief.

Chicago's Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol of the Lakers have agreed to kick in $1,000 for every point they score from Friday through Sunday to a fund that will help victims of this month's deadly earthquake and tsunami.

CNN said the players, who also include Atlanta's Al Horford and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder, are all represented by agent Arn Tellem, who came up with the idea.

Horford, Gasol, Westbrook, Rose and Atlanta's Joe Johnson took part in a similar effort last year to help out in the aftermath of Haiti's devastating quake.

Horford told CNN watching footage from Japan was "like one of those end-of-the-world movies," and he said he would be a little more aggressive with the ball Saturday when the Hawks take on New Jersey.
