J J the Jet Plane scores again

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, March 26 (UPI) -- J J the Jet Plane fought through traffic and was just up at the wire to win Saturday's $1 million, Group 2 Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan in Dubai.

War Artist finished second, beaten a head, and Better Be the One was third, another head back.

J J the Jet Plane, whose resume amply justifies his name, broke in the middle of the pack. Jockey Bernard Fayd'Herbe had his hands full getting clear and avoided being boxed at the end.

"I was in a bit of trouble near the end," he said. "But full credit to the horse. He ran a great race."

The 1,000 meters or about 5 furlongs down the grass straight went in 59.14 seconds.

Since an unsuccessful trip to England last year, J J the Jet Plane has been invincible on the grass, winning Group 1 events back in his home South Africa and last December in Hong Kong. The 7-year-old Jet Master gelding now has 14 wins from 26 starts.
