INDUSTRY, Calif., March 25 (UPI) -- Jiyai Shin shot a 9-under 64 Friday and had the lead when play was suspended during the second round of the Kia Classic.

Shin birdied nine of her first 14 holes and finished two rounds at the Industry Hills Golf Club in 12-under 134.

Rains forced a 3-hour delay to the start of the second round, which will be completed early Saturday.

Shin had a four-shot lead over Sandra Gal, who was 8-under for the tournament through nine holes of her second round.

Amanda Blumenherst, the first-round leader, was at 6-under with nine holes remaining. Michelle Wie struggled to a 75 that put her in a tie for eighth, nine shots out of the lead.

Shin is seeking the ninth victory of her LPGA Tour career.
