SALT LAKE CITY, March 25 (UPI) -- Chris Paul made two free throws with 7 seconds left in a high-scoring overtime period Thursday to clinch the New Orleans Hornets' 121-117 win over Utah.

The Hornets' Emeka Okafor hit a jumper with a second to go in regulation to force the extra period and New Orleans then outscored the Jazz 16-12 in the overtime.

Utah's hopes for a playoff spot were further damaged by its sixth loss in eight games. The Jazz fell 4 1/2 games out of the final post-season spot.

David West led the Hornets with 29 points while Paul had 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Seven New Orleans players scored in double figures and the Hornets made half their shots from the field.

Utah was led by Paul Millsap with 33 points.
