MIAMI, March 24 (UPI) -- A spokesman for the Miami Dolphins said Thursday Bill Parcells was no longer affiliated with the team.

"He doesn't have an official capacity with the club now," Harvey Greene said in an e-mail sent to media members.

Parcells, 69, became Miami's executive vice president of football operations in December 2007, but left that job before the start of the 2010 season when Jeff Ireland became general manager. Parcells served as a consultant with the Dolphins for most of last season.

USA Today reported Parcells would join ESPN during its coverage of the NFL Draft.

Parcells has a 19-year career as a head coach in the NFL. He coached the New York Giants, New England Patriots, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys.

He coached the Giants to Super Bowl championships in 1986 and 1990 and took the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl in 1996.
