Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEW YORK, March 23 (UPI) -- Dwight Howard fired in 33 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Orlando Wednesday, helping the Magic hand slumping New York a 111-99 defeat.
Hedo Turkoglu contributed 16 points and 11 boards and Jameer Nelson provided 19 points for the Magic, who have won six straight over the Knicks and have five wins in their last six games overall.
Brandon Bass had 15 with seven rebounds.
Seventh-seeded New York fell for seventh time in eight games and dropped to two games behind Philadelphia for the Eastern Conference's sixth spot. The Knicks also saw their lead over eighth-place Indiana cut to 3 1/2 games.
Carmelo Anthony paced New York with 24 points and nine assists while Chauncey Billups and Tony Douglas each added 17 points.
