LOS ANGELES, March 23 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant scored 42 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 139-137 win over Phoenix in a triple-overtime thriller Tuesday.
A 3-pointer by Bryant and a pair of field goals by Ron Artest in the final 2 minutes of the third OT proved to be the difference.
The Lakers have won their fifth in a row and 13th of their last 14 games. Phoenix fell three games behind of Memphis for the eighth and final playoff spot with its fifth loss in seven games.
Channing Frey led the Suns with 32 points and 14 rebounds. Steve Nash had 19 points and 20 assists.
The extra time led to some big numbers by both teams. Bryant had nine assists and a dozen rebounds in 48 minutes on the court. Lamar Odom scored 29 points and had 16 rebounds. Pau Gasol had 24 points and 13 boards.
The Suns had seven players in double figures.
