CARSON, Calif., March 20 (UPI) -- Omar Bravo collected a pair of goals Saturday and Sporting Kansas City posted a 3-2 victory over Chivas USA in both teams' season openers.

After C.J. Sapong scored early, Bravo got his first goal in the closing seconds of the first half for Kansas City (1-0-0), forging a 2-0 lead when he chipped a pass over goalkeeper Zach Thornton after the Chivas defense failed to clear the ball.

After Jimmy Conrad pulled Chivas USA back within one in the 55th minute, Bravo struck again in the 74th minute when he tapped a shot past an onrushing Thornton.

Ben Zumanski added a goal for Chivas (0-1-0), but it wasn't enough and they went down to defeat in their home opener.
