
SAN ANTONIO, March 19 (UPI) -- San Antonio's Tim Duncan sat out his first game this season but the Spurs' reserves, led by Steve Novak's 19 points, still notched a 109-98 win over Charlotte.
Novak hit 5-of-8 3-point tries, part of San Antonio's 17-of-34 onslaught from long range.
San Antonio reserves Gary Neal put in 15 points, George Hill had 12 and Matt Bonner 10. The only Spurs starter to reach double figures was Manu Ginobili with 11 points in 18 minutes as San Antonio won for the fifth time in six games to pad its NBA-best 56-13 record.
The Bobcats, playing without leading scorer Stephen Jackson (strained hamstring), got 19 points from Gerald Henderson and 16 from Boris Diaw.
It was Charlotte's third straight loss and ninth in 11 games. The Bobcats are 1 1/2 games behind Indiana for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
