COL BKB: Northwestern 85, Boston Col. 67

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass., March 19 (UPI) -- Northwestern scored 47 points in the second half Saturday and ran away from Boston College 85-67 in the third round of the NIT.

All five Northwestern (20-13) starters were in double figures, led by Michael Thompson with 22 and John Shurna with 20.

The Wildcats shot 54.8 percent from the field, collected 27 assists and sank two of only three free throws in the game.

Joe Tarpani had 18 points and seven rebounds for Boston College (21-13). Josh Southern had 12.

The Wildcats, who will face either Washington State of Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals, led 38-31 at halftime and extended their lead to 20 points with 5:32 to play.
