
CALGARY, Alberta, March 17 (UPI) -- Jarome Iginla scored his 31st and 32nd goals of the season Thursday in leading the Calgary Flames to a 5-2 win over Colorado.
The Flames won for the first time in four games and stayed one point in front of Nashville for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Iginla ignited a three-goal first period 3:51 into the contest and scored Calgary's final goal 6:35 into the third.
Mark Giordano, Rene Bourque and Ales Kotalik also scored for Calgary, which got 27 saves from Miikka Kiprusoff.
Colorado has disappeared from the playoff chase by losing 20 of its last 21 games, including the last 10 in a row. Peter Budaj stopped 23 shots for the Avalanche.
Iginla moved into a tie for sixth place for the most goals in the NHL this season.
