MINNEAPOLIS, March 17 (UPI) -- The Minneapolis Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission said insurance money has arrived to allow them to begin repairs of the blizzard-damaged Metrodome.

Commission Chairman Ted Mondale said Thursday the group received its first $10 million check of an expected total $22.7 million from insurer Affiliated FM to repair damage done to the Metrodome's roof by the blizzard Dec. 12, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported Thursday.

Mondale said repairs are scheduled to begin next week and should be completed prior to the start of the Minnesota Vikings' preseason in August.

"We're going to have football here this fall," he said.
