NHL: San Jose 6, Dallas 3

DALLAS, March 16 (UPI) -- Ryane Clowe and Torrey Mitchell scored third-period goals Tuesday, rallying the San Jose Sharks to a 6-3 win over Dallas in a battle of playoff contenders.

The Sharks spotted Dallas a 2-0 lead in the second period but then scored four straight goals to put the game away. Joe Thornton began the comeback 6:23 into the second and Dany Heatley got the equalizer on the power play 6 minutes later.

Then in the third, Clowe gave San Jose its first lead when Joe Pavelski got control along the endboards and sent a pass into the crease, which Clowe one-timed past Kari Lehtonen.

Mitchell added another goal less than 2 minutes later for the Pacific Division-leading Sharks.

Thornton and Heatley recorded empty-netters to finish with two goals each and Antti Niemi stopped 34-of-37 shots to earn the victory.

Jamie Benn had a goal and two assists and Lehtonen finished with 33 saves for the Stars, who hold the seventh playoff seed in the Western Conference.
