
NEW ORLEANS, March 16 (UPI) -- Chris Paul's 26 points pushed New Orleans to a big lead Wednesday and the Hornets survived to down Phoenix 100-95 and hand the Suns their fourth straight loss.
Paul added nine assists and five rebounds while New Orleans was building a 19-point cushion in the third period. Emeka Okafor contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds, helping the Hornets advance to 3-1 on their five-game homestand.
Phoenix suffered another setback despite the return of guard Steve Nash, who had missed two games with an injury. Jared Dudley scored 25 points for the Suns, Vince Carter had 21 and Grant Hill added 15.
New Orleans opened its comfortable lead in the third period thanks to an 11-0 run. Phoenix hit five 3-pointers in the fourth period to make a late charge.
The Suns had won their previous three meetings with New Orleans.
