VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 15 (UPI) -- Raffi Torres scored less than 2 minutes into the game Monday and the Vancouver Canucks went on to win their sixth straight, a 4-2 decision over Minnesota.
Torres' goal ignited a three-goal first-period outburst in which Daniel Sedin and Ryan Kesler also scored for the NHL-leading Canucks, who followed up a five-game road sweep with a win in the first of three straight home contests.
Roberto Luongo improved to 6-0-1 in his last seven home starts against the Wild, turning aside 33-of-35 shots. Kesler added an empty-net goal as Vancouver reached the 101-point plateau (46-16-9).
The fading Wild dropped to 1-3-1 in their last five games and remained in 11th place in the Western Conference, four points out of a playoff spot.
Mikko Koivu scored in his return from an 11-game absence due to a broken finger and Andrew Brunette had a goal for Minnesota.
Niklas Backstrom made 18 saves for the Wild.
