NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 97, Orlando 84

LOS ANGELES, March 15 (UPI) -- Pau Gasol fired in 23 points and Kobe Bryant shook off an ankle injury to add 16 Monday in the Los Angeles Lakers' 97-84 win over Orlando.

Bryant rolled an ankle in the third quarter of Saturday's win against Dallas and was questionable for the game. But he played 31 minutes, going 7-of-19 from the field as the Lakers won for the 10th time in 11 games.

Lamar Odom came off the bench to add 16 points and grab seven rebounds while Andrew Bynum hauled down 18 boards to go with 10 points and four blocked shots as the Lakers pulled even with the Mavericks for second place in the Western Conference.

Dwight Howard put in 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Magic, who were held to 38 points in the second half, and lost for the 20th time in 24 contests at Staples Center.

Orlando maintained its grip on the East's fourth seed despite the setback.
