SAN JOSE, Calif., March 13 (UPI) -- Brandon Dubinsky scored in the sixth round of a shootout Saturday, giving the New York Rangers to a 3-2 victory over San Jose.

Dubinsky wandered to the right side of the ice as he approached Antti Niemi and fired a slap shot past the goalie, handing the Rangers a win that gave them sole possession of seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Erik Christensen and Mike Sauer added goals and Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 31-of-33 shots for the Rangers.

Ryan Clowe and Ben Eager found the net for the Pacific Division-leading Sharks.

Niemi made 20 saves for San Jose.
