Wozniacki, Stosur advance at Indian Wells

INDIAN WELLS, Calif., March 12 (UPI) -- Top seed Caroline Wozniacki and No. 4 Samantha Stosur advanced Saturday with second-round victories at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

Wozniacki cruised into the third round with 6-3, 6-2 win over American Sloane Stephens and will next face Spaniard Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, who dispatched Romanian Simona Halep, 7-5, 6-0.

Stosur, meanwhile, rolled over Spanish qualifier Laura Pous-Tio, 6-2, 6-2. She will go on to play former world No. 1 Dinara Safina, who downed Daniela Hantuchova 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.

Also logging wins Saturday were eighth-seeded Victoria Azarenka, No. 9 Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland and 13th-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta.
