Switzerland's Feuz wins men's downhill

KVITFJELL, Norway, March 11 (UPI) -- Switzerland's Beat Feuz won the men's downhill in Norway Friday for the first Alpine World Cup win of his career.

Feuz finished in 1 minute 47.39 seconds, 0.05 second ahead of Erik Guay of Canada, Michael Walchhofer of Austria took third and Steve Nyman was the top U.S. finisher in 25th place. Walchhofer, who plans to retire at the end of the season, pulled to within 50 points of Switzerland's Didier Cuche, the leader in the season World Cup downhill standings.

Friday's event was a make-up race for the December Birds of Prey event in Colorado that was canceled due to bad weather.
