LAS VEGAS, March 10 (UPI) -- Jimmer Fredette scored 24 points Thursday in helping No. 8 Brigham Young hold off Texas Christian 64-58 in a Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas.

The Horned Frogs entered the game with 21 losses, including losing twice to BYU. The first time was a 16-point Cougars victory in Fort Worth, Texas, and the second BYU won at 23 at home.

But TCU was even with BYU at 40-40 midway through the second half when Jackson Emery made a 3-point shot that put the Cougars ahead for good.

Fredette had a 3-pointer with 1:41 to go that made the score 58-50 and Noah Hartstock had two free throws that made it a nine-point lead. But TCU's Greg Hill scored the next seven points -- hitting two 3-pointers and a free throw -- only to have Fredette and Jackson Emery seal the game with free throws.

Fredette's 24 points came on 7-of-21 shooting and Charles Abouo added 14 and Hartstock 10 for BYU. Hill and Hank Thorn each had 5 points for TCU.
