NEW YORK, March 8 (UPI) -- Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber is coming out of retirement, his agent told FoxSports.com Tuesday.

The paperwork has been launched to get the Giants' career rushing yardage leader back out on the field for the first time since 2006, the broadcaster reported.

Barber's application will be examined by the Giants and the NFL commissioner's office before a decision is made on whether he can be activated, the agent said.

The three-time Pro Bowl choice will turn 36 April 7. Barber is the league's 12th all-time leader in yards from scrimmage with 15,632.
