TORONTO, March 5 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa scored and added an assist Saturday and the Chicago Blackhawks rode three first-period tallies to a 5-3 win over Toronto.

Hossa's unassisted goal only 1:10 into the contest set the tone, and Michael Frolik and Jonathan Toews also found the net before the initial period was out for a 3-0 Chicago lead. Viktor Stalberg and Bryan Bickell scored for the Blackhawks.

Corey Crawford stopped 30-of-33 shots as Chicago stayed hot with a season-high eighth straight win.

Luke Schenn had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, who fell to 10-3-4 since the all-star break. Joffrey Lupul and Joey Crabb also scored for Toronto.

James Reimer started in net, but was pulled after allowing five goals on 19 shots. Jean-Sebastien Giguere relieved him, turning aside all six shots he faced.
