NHL: Vancouver 2, Columbus 1 (SO)

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 2 (UPI) -- Raffi Torres scored in the eighth round of the shootout Tuesday to give the Vancouver Canucks a 2-1 win over Columbus.

Torres was one of three Canucks to score in the shootout, which began with a goal by Columbus star Rick Nash. Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo, who had 30 saves, blocked R.J. Umberger in the Blue Jackets' half of the eighth round.

Mason Raymond scored for Vancouver at 14:27 of the first period, giving the Canucks a 1-0 lead. Scottie Upshall, who was acquired in a trade with Phoenix on Monday, scored the lone Columbus goal at 7:11 of the second period.

Steve Mason made 25 saves for the Blue Jackets.
