SAN FRANCISCO, March 1 (UPI) -- Former San Francisco Giants home-run king Barry Bonds Tuesday pleaded not guilty to a revised charge of lying under oath about using steroids.

Bonds entered the plea during a brief hearing in federal court in San Francisco, again claiming innocence on charges he lied to a grand jury investigating a steroids scandal in 2003, the San Jose Mercury News reported.

Bonds has pleaded not guilty four times since his original indictment in 2007 accusing him of repeatedly lying when he testified under oath that he never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs supplied by the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative.

Prosecutors say Bonds's former trainer, Greg Anderson, supplied him with performance-enhancing drugs from BALCO.

Anderson told U.S. District Judge Susan Illston Tuesday he will refuse to testify during Bonds's trial, which is now set for March 21, drawing a warning from the judge he will likely be jailed, the newspaper reported.
