KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Ralph Sampson and Bob Knight head the list of eight new inductees into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, officials said Monday.
Former Virginia center Sampson, who won the Naismith Award three times, Michigan all-American Cazzie Russell, St. John's standout Chris Mullin and North Carolina great James Worthy comprise the players' contingent to be inducted Nov. 20 in Kansas City, Mo.
Knight -- the all-time winningest Division I coach with 902 victories and three national championships at Indiana -- along with Eddie Sutton, who coached at Creighton, Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma State, are among the mentors to be inducted.
Also on the list of 2011 inductees will be Joe Vancisin, Yale's all-time winningest men's basketball coach, and TV sports pioneer Eddie Einhorn, who was the first to nationally syndicate radio and television coverage of NCAA basketball games.
Einhorn is currently the vice chairman of the Chicago White Sox.
