Report: Torre headed for MLB front office

NEW YORK, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Joe Torre will be named Major League Baseball's executive vice president in charge of on-field operations, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

The report said the former manager would be named to the position Saturday.

Torre managed the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers. He spent 12 years with the Yankees, winning the World Series four times.
