NBA: Indiana 102, Detroit 101

INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- A dunk by Brandon Rush with 5.4 seconds to play Wednesday lifted Indiana to a 102-101 victory over Detroit.

Rush, who was given the start after Mike Dunleavy suffered a broken left thumb in a win over Washington Tuesday, scored only nine points for the game.

It was his slam off a pass from Danny Granger, however, that gave the Pacers their fifth win in seven games. Detroit's Rodney Stuckey threw the ball away on the ensuing possession to prevent the Pistons from getting off a potential game-winning shot.

Tyler Hansbrough led Indiana with 21 points and 12 rebounds off the bench and Granger contributed 18 points.

Greg Monroe had 27 points for Detroit, which has lost five out of six.

Indiana had to rely on the late heroics by Rush after letting a 17-point, third-period lead get away.
