Dominguez Lino ousts Hercog in Mexico

ACAPULCO, Mexico, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain continued her winning ways on clay Tuesday with a first-round victory over second-seed Polona Hercog at the Mexican Open.

Dominguez, fresh off her clay-court championship in Colombia, bested her Slovenian opponent on the clay in Acapulco 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 and moved on to the second round.

Third-seed Greta Arn of Hungary and fourth-seed Gisela Dulko of Argentina advanced in straight sets as did No. 7 Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain.

Fifth-seeded Simona Halep of Romania was knocked out by Spain's Laura Pous-Tio 6-3, 6-7 (7-4), 6-3.
