NHL: Washington 2, Buffalo 1

BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Marcus Johansson's power-play goal in the third period Sunday lifted the Washington Capitals to a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Johansson tipped in Mathieu Perreault 's shot off a rebound 10 minutes into the final frame, breaking a 1-1 tie and boosting the Caps to only their second win in six games.

Perreault also scored and added an assist and Semyon Varlamov stopped 28 shots for Washington.

The Sabres got their lone goal from Jason Pominville and Ryan Miller made 37 saves as Buffalo lost for the third straight time.
