France's Grange takes men's slalom gold

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships ended Sunday with Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Grange winning the golf medal in the men's slalom.

Grange turned in a time of 1 minute, 41.72 seconds to edge Sweden's Jens Byggmark and Manfred Moelgg of Italy.

Nolan Kasper of the United States took 15th place and teammate Ted Ligety placed 19th. The U.S. team won three medals in the Worlds, including Ligety's gold in the giant slalom.

The World Cup tour resumes for the women on Thursday and the men on Friday.
