FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Brigham Young's Jimmer Fredette scored 23 points Saturday and the eighth-ranked Cougars cruised to a 79-56 victory over Texas Christian.

Fredette, the leading candidate for national Player of the Year honors, was held to 6-of-16 from the field but connected on a trio of 3-pointers for the Cougars (25-2, 11-1 MWC), who handed the Horned Frogs their 10th straight loss.

Stephen Rogers added 15 points off the bench and Brandon Davies and Jackson Emery each netted 11 for BYU, which will play sixth-ranked conference rival San Diego State next Saturday in a Mountain West showdown.

J.R. Cadot led TCU (10-18, 1-12) with 17 points and nine rebounds.
