FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Texas Christian University announced Thursday its football team would meet Brigham Young in October at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Both teams have been members of the Mountain West Conference, but BYU will play next season as an independent and TCU will be moving to the Big East Conference in 2012.
With BYU moving out of the MWC next season, TCU had an extra open date on Oct. 28. They filled it by scheduling the same team the Horned Frogs had originally expected to play.
The game will take part in the stadium that hosted this year's Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
TCU finished a 13-0 season in 2010 ranked No. 2 in the nation after a 24-21 victory over Big Ten Conference co-champion Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.
It was reported last week that a third party had approached both Wisconsin and TCU about the possibility of those schools meeting again next season in Madison, Wis., but those discussions never advanced.
