PATTAYA, Thailand, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Daniela Hantuchova and Sara Errani pulled off upsets Saturday and advanced to the finals of the Pattaya Open tennis tournament in Thailand.
Hantuchova, the No. 4 seed, defeated top-seeded and two-time defending champion Vera Zvonareva 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 after Errani had ousted fifth-seeded Roberta Vinci 6-1, 6-4.
Hantuchova lost her serve just once in the 2-hour, 16-minute match and was able break Zvonareva's serve in each set. It was only the second time in six career meetings that Hantuchova defeated Zvonareva.
Errani, seeded eighth, had never beaten Vinci before Saturday when she jumped out to the early lead and finished off a match in straight sets for the first time this week.
Hantuchova owns a 2-1 series edge over Errani, with their last match coming in 2009 in Cincinnati when Hantuchova won in three sets.
Sunday's Pattaya Open champion will take home $37,000 while the runner-up earns $19,000. Vinci and Zvonareva each won $10,400 as semifinalists.
